In a haunted mansion, ghost hunters and spirits face in a night-long chase.
A stressful hunt for some, but a mischievous playground for others !

Since we were 20 students to work on the project, every one had a specific task to accomplish during the two weeks long production. No one had affinity with sound design, so I volunteered to be in charge of all the SFX of the game (from listing all the sound effects we'd need to importing them in Unreal Engine 4). The real challenge was the asymetrical side of the game, which is supposed to bring tension for the hunters and a playful mood for the spirits. However, the sound had to be the same for every player, no matter on whose side they were. I spent a lot of time figuring out how to reflect two distinct moods with one sound. I settled for child noises that sound joyful from a harmless perspective (spirits) and frightening from a threatened point of view (ghost hunter). I also made environmental sound (ticking hourglass, clicking heater, TV white noise...) that randomly activate to give life to the mansion as well. After modifying the sounds on Audacity to give it a more ectoplasmic tone, I spent the rest of the production integrating the sounds on Unreal Engine 4, which was a first approach of the software to me. I learned a lot about this experience and, even though sound design is not my main activity, I am now able to produce basic SFX that fit with the game's mood.
